About

Etched Atlas started with a wedding gift for a close friend. A few birthday, wedding and Christmas gifts later we had the beginning of our company.
We love maps! They are beautiful, fun, and infinitely varied. Maps represent both the natural world and our experiences, which is why they make for artwork that is both gorgeous and meaningful.

 How We Do it

All of our artwork is designed in-house. We use a variety of reference maps and open source data (shout out to Open Street Map!) to create unique designs you won’t find anywhere else. All of our pieces are engraved in our workshop using an Epilog laser.

We're always mapping new places! See our list of our newest maps here.

Behind the scenes, we revel in developing products and processes that are efficient, effective and sustainable. This is why we source our frames from the environmentally conscious company Picture Woods, Ltd, and it’s why we spent more time than we’d like to admit searching for boxes that would allow us to ship our products with the least amount of packaging.

Who We Are

We are a husband and wife team happily living in Maplewood, New Jersey. Julie manages the design work while Matthew runs our workshop. Our dog Arthur is the head of the social committee and is in charge of morale. He does an excellent job and probably deserves a raise.
